Time for reflection: Marketing Campaign

Creating a real marketing campaign for a real organization was so exciting. Overall, Ana, Mariana, Jonathan and I worked well as a group. Although we agreed on most aspects, time management was definitely something we needed to work on more. If we would've been smarter with time issues, I am sure we could have done a much better job. We were kind of all over the place at certain points.

Although we did research on two different pet rescue organizations, I feel like we could've been more analytical on their aspects in order to form stronger conclusions and make better choices for our campaign.

Nevertheless, I was pretty happy with how the design aspect turned out for our campaign. Our presentation looked good when it was put together, which made the branding feel complete. I was happy with our choice of color palette was well as fonts. I would have liked to make our logo more personalized though!! There were so many presentations that I was fascinated with that had a super unique logo. And to do this they used digital illustration software that I would really like to learn how to use.

All I can say is yes, collaborative work is nice. You learn from each other and support one another. But. I'm gonna say it. You have so much more control when working alone. I know I will be more flexible in the making of my short film because I will have control over my choices.

So in conclusion (because we love making lists here):

Things I learned that I will be more aware of while producing my portfolio project:

  • Analyze your research: Look up other short films. Take inspo. Look up production techniques. Read articles!! Be analytical. Use a critical eye. Look at pros and cons.
  • Teach yourself to use different softwares: I learned to use Final Cut on my own with help from the "Help bar". Do not limit yourself!! Google is a great tool. Look up whatever the hell you can think of.
  • Manage you time, it's precious: As much as I feel awfully pressured when my mom says the five Ps (proper planning prevents poor performance), she's damn right.
  • Challenge yourself: Do NOT stick to what's already done if you know you can make it twenty times better. Obviously don't torture yourself. But take the challenge.
  • Challenge conventions: I feel like our campaign for Wonder Paws could have had a defining aspect to make it stand out from any other adoption organizations. I strive to challenge the conventional aspects of short films with my project. I want to make it memorable.
